Bryceting or Berting, as he was fondly called by his family, was born on May 9, 2009, in Columbus, the son of Jonathan A. and Carmel Cortes Monisit. He was a 7th grade student and a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Bryce had a smile that lit up the world, an avid collector of trains and cars with Thomas and Hot Wheels as two of his favorites. He loved Pokémon and could name all the different kinds. He also liked to play video games and began playing Minecraft when he was 7. This young teen enjoyed sports activities with his father, including swimming, biking and taking Kung Fu classes. He even briefly participated in track and field. He was a well-rounded child who loved the arts and could be seen painting nature scenes with his mother. He loved to listen to music of different genres and played the piano. The last piece he worked on was Let it Be.

Growing up, Bryce had many interests including his love for animals. He liked them so much that he wanted to be a veterinarian. He’s a big fan of marine animals specially the octopus. He adopted a rescued dog even though he wanted a cat , he knew his parents like dogs and were allergic to cats. A very selfless child, he would plan with his father what to get his mother as gifts for whatever occasion.

Bryce prayed often to Mary and Jesus and would remind his mom of the novenas that they recite together. He touched so many lives and will be missed by all. Survivors include his parents, grandparents, Maurito and Ligaya Monisit and Buenaventura and Josefina Cortes all from the Philippines.
