LCSC to host Columbus Invitational

Lincoln Center Skate Club will once again this year host the kickoff event for the Indiana State Championship Series March 3-5 at Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena.

The Columbus Invitational will be three days this year, as opposed to two last year, because of an increase from 97 to 154 participants. Figure skaters are expected from Chicago, Lexington and Cincinnati.

LCSC president Kevin Aker said the competition’s growth is driven by 2 factors, including increased participation from in-state skaters driven by the Indiana Statue Championship Series and increased participation from out-of-state skaters because this year’s event has been selected as a qualifying site for the National Excel Series finals, which will be in July in Austin, Texas.

Around 225 skaters participated in the last year’s four-event State Championship Series. LCSC ended last year’s Championship Series with 16 state champions across all event levels.
