Parsons named Columbus East High School principal

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Michael Parsons, principal at Clifty Creek Elementary School, has been named Columbus East High School principal effective July 1.

He has been in education for 15 years and served for 10 years as a building administrator, and is in his fourth year as Clifty Creek principal.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Taylor University, master’s degree in special education from Ball State University, M.A.E.in educational administration from Ball State University, and Ph.D. from Purdue University in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. He resides with his wife Arlene and two children, Caleb and Natalie in Columbus.

Parsons will take over for Mark Newell, who is leaving East after nearly 15 years to become director of McDowell Adult Education and Alternative Education Center.
