Letter: Mary Ferdon is prepared to lead ‘The Columbus Way’

From: Sherry Stark

Columbus

I hope you’ve read the recent letters to the editor encouraging us to vote for Mary Ferdon for our next Columbus Mayor. The writers made some very good points about Mary’s important role in economic development, public safety and NexusPark efforts, among other contributions. As the city of Columbus head of administration and community development, Mary has worked closely with Mayor Lienhoop on these key initiatives. In fact Mayor Jim wrote one of those letters expressing his support for her. I’m now adding my voice to those enthusiastically supporting Mary Ferdon for Mayor.

I first met Mary when we worked together at Heritage Fund, our community foundation. She brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role and quickly became a dear friend. Since then in her various community leadership roles I’ve seen her develop a critically important social skill for a city leader — the ability to build and nurture partnerships.

Mary understands that to be effective the “Columbus Way” depends upon strong partnerships. Such partnerships develop through mutual respect, demonstrated competence, and a commitment to do good things that serve the greater good. Mary is committed to this important concept and has demonstrated her ability to help build and grow such partnerships that have tackled a wide range of community issues and projects. I encourage you to check out Mary’s website, Mary4Columbusmayor.com, to learn more.

The primary election which will slate candidates for the November general election is May 5, and I’ll be voting for Mary Ferdon for Mayor. I hope you will join me in supporting this highly qualified candidate.
