COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Ruby Ann Ritter, 86, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 8:27 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at Willow Crossing Health &Rehabilitation Center.
Ruby was born in Bartholomew County, September 9, 1936, the daughter of the late John W. and Martha Kuhlman Ferguson. On March 14, 1953, Ruby married Neal Kenneth Ritter; he preceded her in death June 22, 1979.
Ruby was employed at Arvin Industries and as an aide at the Columbus Convalescent Center. She was a member of Walker Chapel and enjoyed going to the Little Nashville Opry. Ruby also enjoyed bowling and traveling, especially to Florida. She always kept a special place in her heart for her dogs.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Ann (Everett) Peacock of Waynesville and Peggy (Arnold) Madden of Columbus; grandchildren, Belinda (Paul) Quillen, Lisa (Jimmy Tindle) Madden, Kenneth (Karie) Peacock, and Karen (James) Mann; great-grandchildren, Jasper Quillen, Addison Lynn Mann, Caleb James Mann, and Katherin Peacock; sisters, Linda Swengel of Elizabethtown and Marjorie Hawkins of Westport; brothers, Kenneth (Ruth) Ferguson of Columbus, Phillip Ferguson of Colorado, and Thomas Ferguson of Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Ferguson; husband, Neal Kenneth Ritter; sisters, Mary Black, Martha Gabbard, Betty Hurley, and Barbara LeQuire; and brothers, Paul Ferguson, Donald Ray Ferguson, John Ferguson Jr., and James Ferguson.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Reverend Roy Hendershot officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Ruby will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Daugherty Cemetery.
