MALE

Carter Kent // Jennings County sophomore basketball player

Kent led the Panthers with 22 points in a 51-39 win against New Albany in the Seymour Sectional final and with 16 points in Saturday’s 64-40 win over Evansville Reitz in the Seymour Regional.

His performance last week: “I shot the ball pretty well in the past couple of games. Keegan (Manowitz) has been doing a good job of finding the open guy, and we’ve been able to him.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Every morning before school, I’m in the gym getting shots up and working hard in practice.”

Favorite drink: “Powerade or water”

Favorite food: “Steak and chicken”

Favorite class: “Geography or History”

Favorite sports team: “Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bears”

Favorite athlete: “De’Aaron Fox”

Role model: “My parents (Rob and Taryn Kent)”

Best advice: “Work hard, and all of it will pay off in the end.”

Athletics goal: “To play college basketball at any level.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Germany. I take German at school, and I like their culture, and my family down the line is from there.”

Lindsey Mullis // Columbus North senior gymnast

Lindsey Mullis

Mullis finished 14th on the bars, 21st on both the vault and beam and tied for 35th on the floor to finish 16th in the all-around and help the Bull Dogs to a fourth-place team finish in Saturday’s Gymnastics State Finals.

Her performance last week: “I had a couple of bobbles, but I was able to finish strong at the end of my routines.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I didn’t do anything special.”

Favorite drink: “Sprite”

Favorite food: “Mexican”

Favorite class: “I like psychology”

Favorite sports team: “LSU gymnastics”

Favorite athlete: “(LSU gymnast) Haley Bryant”

Role model: “My dad (Craig Mullis).”

Best advice: “First things first. Always finish the first thing before you start something new, and take it slow.”

Athletics goal: “I really wanted to make it on podium (at state) this year. That was our goal as a team, and we did that.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Maybe to Hawaii or somewhere like that, because it’s beautiful and warm.”
