Panthers rally past Jets

NORTH VERNON — Kenzie Matern’s two-run triple in a five-run fifth inning gave Jennings County the lead for good in Monday’s season-opening 6-4 win against Hauser.

Jillian Brauer went 2 for 3 with a double and picked up the win in relief of Matern for the Panthers. Riley Byford also went 2 for 3.

Reagan Johnson went 2 for 3, and Izzy Brunner went 2 for 4 to lead the Jets.

Trinity tops Lancers

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran scored 10 times in the first inning and went on to hand Edinburgh a 17-0 season-opening defeat.

Noah Voelker threw a one-hitter for the Cougars. Sage Broughton went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and five RBIs, and Nathan Finke went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and Drake Goodpaster went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Jarrett Turner had the lone hit for the Lancers.
