INDIANAPOLIS — Rep. Ryan Lauer, R-Columbus, has voted in favor of a bill that would ban gender-affirming health care for transgender youth.

The bill, SB 480, passed the House in a 65-30 vote on Monday and now heads to Gov. Eric Holcomb’s desk.

The measure had previously cleared the Senate in a 36-12 vote on Feb. 28. Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, who is one of the bill’s co-authors, also voted in favor of the ban.

The bill would prohibit a physician or other practitioner from knowingly providing gender-transition procedures to an individual who is less than 18 years of age that are intended to alter the gender of the minor or delay puberty.
