EDINBURGH
Ronald P. Crawford, 87, of Edinburgh passed from this life on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 10:30 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Crawford was born on March 9, 1936, in Lynchburg, Virginia the son of Thomas and Cordelia Austin Crawford. On December 19, 1958, he married Barbara J. Hurley.
He proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper and went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves. He retired in 1999 from Cummins Engine Company after 40 years of service where he was a welder.
Mr. Crawford was a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge #547 and previous member of the Bartholomew County Shrine Club where he enjoyed being involved with the Shriners Circus and being a Road Runner taking children to the Shriners Hospitals. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing softball, playing his guitar, and wood working.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara J. Crawford of Edinburgh; children, Randy (Coleen) Crawford of Las Vegas, Thomas Crawford of Columbus, Ronda (John) Frazier of Whiteland; grandchildren, Shannon Crawford, Jamie Garcia, Victoria (Luis) Cervantes, Alex (Jessy) Gratton, Sean (Alexis) Crawford, Elizabeth Crawford, Mike (Gloria) Gibson, Matt (Colleen) Gibson, Gregory Crawford, Eric (Kayleigh) Frazier; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Londeree and Joan Cawthorne; and daughter, Teresa Cooley.
In keeping with Mr. Crawford’s wishes cremation will take place.
Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veteran’s Honor Guard at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Following military honors a Masonic memorial service will be conducted by members of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge #547.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In memory of Mr. Crawford memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
