Jets sweep Lancers
EDINBURGH — Hauser won all five matches in straight sets Thursday in a 5-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Edinburgh.
Bella Kilps beat Jessica Walsh 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Charlie Clark topped Izzy Richardson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Lydia Jordan defeated Zoey Sida 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (2-2, 1-0).
Hauser’s Mattie Foster and Addyson Barriger beat Jillian Turner and Grace Myers 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Abby Blair and Kayden Miller topped Lily Turner and Mia Dodson 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Owls top Olympians
Columbus East notched a win at No. 3 singles, but Seymour took the other four to post a 4-1 victory.
Sara Moran moved from No. 2 doubles to No. 3 singles and beat Claire Combs 5-7, 6-4, (10-7) for the Olympians (2-6).
East’s Lauren Degner fell to Brooke Schaffstall 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Katie Hong lost to Elise Hartung 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Shruthika Kumar and Katie Rieckers fell to Jessica Houghland and Caroline Thompson 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Allie Gribbins and Ashlynn Waddle lost to Addison Hunsley and Ava Sunbury 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Eagles blank Mustangs
ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County won four matches in straight sets in a 5-0 Western Indiana Conference win at Edgewood.
Anna Stogsdill beat Macy Vaughn 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Anna Tipton topped Kimmie Franklin 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and Julia Burt downed Ellie Jackson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (4-0, 2-0).
Brown County’s Katie Tipton and Londyn Koester outlasted Candace Rosemeier and Kaiden Harrington 2-6, 6-0, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. Ava Kelly and Cady Kemp defeated Marley Jackson and Sophia Kapperman 7-6 (5), 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
BASEBALL
East falls to Pioneers
Providence jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and went on to post a 14-6 victory at Columbus East.
Chase Niese went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for the Olympians (1-6). Jace Jones and Evan Balzer each had a double.
Cougars blank Lancers
GREENSBURG — South Decatur scored three runs in the first and eight in the second on its way to a 15-0, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Edinburgh.
Devin Pate and J.P. Scudder combined on a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Cougars (4-1, 3-0). Brady Lane went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Colby Rathburn went 2 for 3, Brock Lane went 2 for 4 and Dale Peters had a double and two RBIs.
Jared Myers had the lone hit for the Lancers (1-6, 0-3).
SOFTBALL
Lancers no-hit Cougars
GREENSBURG — MacKenzie Bieker threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead Edinburgh to a 14-0 MHC win at South Decatur.
Kenna Streeval went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Lancers (3-5, 1-1). Alix Streeval went 2 for 2, Bieker went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Gracie Crawhorn went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Eloise Cox went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Gracie Barrett went 2 for 3 with a double.
The Cougars fell to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Panthers rout Pirates
GREENSBURG — Jennings County scored four times in the first inning and went on to post an 11-1 victory at Greensburg.
Jillian Brauer threw a four-hitter and went 3 for 5 with a double for the Panthers (8-3). Abby McDonald went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Kenzie Matern went 3 for 5 with a triple, Marlee Elston went 2 for 4 and Taylor Mowery had two RBIs.
Trinity tops Twisters
OLDENBURG — Grace Lance threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead Trinity Lutheran to an 11-0, five-inning victory at Oldenburg Academy.
Dianna Munoz went 3 for 3 with three RBIs, Olivia Cain went 3 for 3 with two doubles, and Bailey Tabeling went 3 for 3 for the Cougars (6-3). Madison Keith went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Amanda Finke had two RBIs.
BOYS GOLF
Lancers stop Spartans
EDINBURGH — Max Blandford won medalist honors with a 39 to lead Edinburgh to a 178-255 win against Southwestern (Shelby) at Timbergate.
Wyatt Burton carded a 45 for the Lancers. Gabe Bennett added a 46, Mason Calhous shot 48, Devyn Milburn had a 51 and Trenton Schmidt finished with a 52.
Eagles take second
BLOOMINGTON — Brown County finished second in a tri match at Cascades. Host Edgewood won with a 154, while the Eagles edged Owen Valley 208-211.
Clay Austin led Brown County with a 47. Wesley Arndt carded a 51, Bradley Ardnt added a 54, Liam Cassiday shot 56 and Jon Kirchhofer had a 62.
TRACK AND FIELD
Trinity girls second
SEYMOUR —Trinity Lutheran’s girls finished second and the Cougar boys were fourth in a home quad meet.
Switzerland County won the girls meet with 109 points to 39 for the Cougars and 24 each for Jac-Cen-Del and Southwestern. The Switzerland County boys scored 79 to 59 1/2 for Southwestern, 48 1/2 for Jac-Cen-Del and 18 for Trinity.
Trinity’s Emalee Goss won the girls high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches. Jake Holland won the boys 110-meter hurdles (16.64 seconds) and 300 hurdles (44.77)
