Local students serve Walker as Senate pages

State Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, welcomed several Columbus students to the Statehouse to serve as Senate pages in March.

Students who served as pages in March were Ava Gausmann from Columbus Christian School, Will Gausmann from Trinity Lutheran High School, Aaron Simmons from Indiana Connections Academy and Stella Thompson from St. Peters Lutheran School.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

“It is always a pleasure to have local students visit the Statehouse,” Walker said. “The Senate Page program offers students a unique experience to see the legislature up close and I encourage young Hoosiers with an interest in government to look into the program and consider participating next year.”

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
