PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA
Richard D. “Rick” McCullough passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Rick was born October 12, 1934, to parents Stanley and May (Ponsler) McCullough, in Westport, Indiana. He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1953. Rick was the owner and operator of Freezer Fresh Ice Cream / Happy Time Sports. He worked for Arvin Industries and retired after 23 years with Cummins, Inc. He married Carol Clark Gray on September 11, 1976.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, and a member of the Westport Baptist Church and Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. He was past President of the Indiana Baptist Men and Methodist Men’s organizations. He was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed volunteering for various organizations within and outside of the church. He was an avid daily reader of his bible and above all he loved his family, helping others and most of all loved his God.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, children, Kevin (Kim) McCullough of Lakeland, FL, Jane (Lewis) Pollock of Scipio, IN, Debra Phillips of Port Charlotte, FL, Pamela Roberts of Port Charlotte, FL, and Charles (Deb) Gray of Columbus, IN; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry McCullough of Columbus, IN, and sister-in-law Mary McCullough of Greensburg, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Jon Beight officiating.
A time of visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to time of service.
Military Honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
He will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made First Christian Church Tower Fund.
