Main Street Hospice encourages volunteer applications

FRANKLIN — Main Street Hospice in Franklin is offering free training for new volunteer applicants seeking to provide companionship visits to hospice patients in Bartholomew, Brown, Johnson, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, Monroe, Morgan, and Shelby counties.

Volunteers can determine their own hours of availability as they visit one of the many facilities Main Street Hospice serves or choose to be assigned to a specific home patient and make weekly visits at a designated day and time.

Volunteers undergo initial comprehensive and ongoing training to: provide patient visits in private homes, independent living, long-term care, and/or assisted living settings; provide emotional and practical support to caregivers in a private home; and provide clerical/administrative support in the Franklin office. Military veteran volunteers are also needed to assist with Military Honors ceremonies, which Main Street offers for every veteran patient.

To be considered for a free, upcoming training session, complete the volunteer application at mainstreethospicein.com, contact volunteer coordinator Cheryl Mioduski at (317) 736-0055, or email [email protected] to request more information.

Main Street Hospice volunteers meet every second Thursday of the month for an educational opportunity in the Franklin Office. Call to RSVP if you would like to join the next meeting Thursday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
