Columbus American Legion Post 24 and the Columbus HUEY organization will have an open house and fish fry today at the Columbus Municipal Airport.
The event will be in the hanger area of the airport at 2045 Taxiway Drive, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is free. The Blue River Band will perform. Fish, tenderloins, hot dogs and sides will be served for donations from a food wagon. Beer, wine, water bottles and soft drinks will be sold at fixed prices by the Legion.
Proceeds will be used for Wreaths Across Bartholomew County, equipment needed for veterans’ burial ceremonies and student scholarship programs.
In 2020, the Columbus Indiana HUEY organization formed to support an iconic Vietnam War era helicopter that travels to veterans’ events and other patriotic events, maintained by donations and membership fees. The helicopter will be at the open house and some helicopter rides will be available.
