Alongsider Church — Alongsider is a community of house churches coming together to worship as one body on the first and third Sundays monthly at 9:30 a.m. The church meets in the cafeteria at WD Richards Elementary School. Park in the back by the tennis courts and enter through door 24. On the second and fourth Sundays, house churches meet in homes across Columbus for a conversational study of the past sermon and deeper fellowship.

Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. J.A.M. (children’s church) is offered only at the 11 a.m. service. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m. Asbury offers a variety of classes and group studies at various times during the week. Twist & Turns Vacation Bible School at Asbury will be June 19 to 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., and the final VBS program will be on Sunday, June 25, at 10 a.m. Registration is open at www.asburycolumbus.org.

Columbus Baptist Church — The church offers worship services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A teen service is offered at 6:30 p.m. Sunday school for all ages meets at 9:30 a.m.

East Columbus Christian Church — East Columbus Christian Church is open for in-person worship on Sunday mornings with a blended worship service at 10 a.m. The church also has online worship available through Facebook and YouTube.

Sunday morning Bible study is at 9 a.m. Youth meet at the church from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and children’s ministry meets through Zoom on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Pastor Jongmin Lee will bring the message at the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service. The morning blended worship service includes praise music and traditional hymns. Children receive a special message during children’s moment and are dismissed for children’s church during the service. Sunday school is held immediately after the morning service, and classes are available for all ages and Bible interests. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

A free hot meal will be served the second Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Youth Center Building. All are welcome to come.

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in-person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship is offered at 6:30 p.m. each week. The congregation also livestreams a daily devotion and prayer Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m. on the Facebook page.

Preschool classes continue, with fall enrollment opening soon. The congregation offers an afterschool program with space available for new students each school day from 3 to 5:30 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Presbyterian Church — Happy Day of Pentecost! Rev. Richard Safford will preach on Acts 2:1-21 with a sermon titled “Healing the Past”. Please notice our summer worship time has changed to 10 a.m.

First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, May 28, at 10 a.m., Jen Riddle will deliver the message, “A Spirit of Visions and Dreams”. The scripture will be Acts 2:1-21.

The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Childcare will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service.

On Friday, June 2, the church will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. To register to donate, go to www.redcrossblood.org.

Also on Friday, June 2, at 7 p.m., the church will have a Fridays@First concert featuring our organist, Laura Bottei. The concert will feature music from Bach, Portman, themes from Les Miserables, and more. Admission is free; donations are encouraged.

On Friday, June 9, the church will host a group from Peachtree Christian Church who will present a dramatic performance based on “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”

Flintwood Wesleyan Church — Sunday morning worship begins at 9 a.m. with the amplify (contemporary) service. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. The well (traditional) service begins at 11 a.m. Both worship services are led by Pastor Wesley Jones. The church’s Sunday amplify services are livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Wednesday activities begin with a meal served at 5:30 p.m. in the friendship center. Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church — The church invites the community to visit the little 150-year-old country church for a 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Newbern United Methodist Church — The church is practicing strict COVID-19 preventative measures. Masks are required. All activities are postponed until further notice except for Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. and online Bible study each Wednesday at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Al White, the church’s transitional pastor, is leading worship and sharing messages that encourage firm foundations of faith in Jesus. Simple church — simply Jesus.

The church has added a time for discipleship growth at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings. There’s always a coffee and donut time downstairs before the morning worship time at 10 a.m.

Petersville United Methodist Church — On May 28, at the 9 a.m. worship service, Pastor Rebecca Milne will present her sermon, “Pentecost: The Wind of Change” from the series “The Butterfly Effect.” Scriptures will be from Acts 2:1-21; the pastor will emphasize that the Holy Spirit is the wind of change that brings about transformation, renewal and hope in our lives.

Kathy Bush will serve as worship and song leader; Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon.

Julee Lubewa from Uganda will be a special guest at the service. She will have some homemade items for sale during the time of fellowship and refreshments following the worship service.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Sandy Hook United Methodist Church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. The church will offer two services on Sunday, May 28 — the traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and the contemporary service at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Dazet will bring a message about “Pentecost: The Wind of Change” as part of the sermon series, “The Butterfly Effect.”

Sunday school is offered for all ages between the two services. Nursery is available for children 3 and younger from 8:30 a.m. through the end of the second service.

On Wednesdays, May 31 through July 26, we will offer “Prayer, Praise and Pickleball” in the parking lot of the church. Bring your chairs for prayer and praise, wear sneakers for pickleball. Several courts will be set up for play every Wednesday night. In case of inclement weather, it will be inside the gym.

Vacation Bible School will be June 1-3. Sandy Hook UMC is partnering with First Lutheran Church and Petersville UMC to provide a mobile VBS to the Columbus community. St. Paul Lutheran Church — Pentecost will be celebrated Sunday at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services with Pastor Jeff Patterson presenting the message, “Living Water, Flow,” based on John 7:37-39.

Christian fellowship begins at 9:10 a.m. with Christian education classes for all ages beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Spanish worship service led by Pastor Daniel Fickenscher will be in the Fellowship Room at 10:45 a.m. with Spanish Bible study at 12:15 p.m.

Radio worship service is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on WYGS 91.1 FM, and The Lutheran Hour is every Sunday at 7 p.m. on WYGS 91.1 FM.

Final adult Bible class meets Wednesday in the fellowship room at 9 a.m. studying the Gospel of John and at 6 p.m. studying the Old Testament feasts and festivals before recessing for the summer.

Open enrollment continues for St. Paul Lutheran Early Childhood Ministry 2023-2024 school year. St. Paul offers a comprehensive half-day kindergarten program, a 4-year-old prekindergarten class, a 3-year-old preschool class, extended care, and STEM enrichment sessions.

Vacation Bible School, themed “Keepers of the Kingdom,” for ages 3 through sixth grade, will be held Monday, July 10-Friday July 14, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Stellar Vacation Bible School — At Stellar VBS, kids discover how they can shine Jesus’ love and hope in everyday life. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and devour yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies, and test out sciency-fun gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. They will also learn to look for evidence of God all around them.
