2008 flood subject of panel discussion

The Sierra Club Winding Waters Group has organized a free, panel discussion linked to the 15th anniversary of the flood that will unfold from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Indiana Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in downtown Columbus. Panelists will include Jeff Bergman, City Planning Department director; the Rev. Lanny Lawler, chair of the Bartholomew County Long Term Flood Recovery Team; a representative from Columbus Regional Heath; and Columbus resident Eric Riddle, author of “Watershed: Service in the Wake of Disaster” serving as moderator.

The book is a history of the first year of the flood recovery effort, highlighting stories of those most deeply impacted by the June 2008 flood and the highly coordinated efforts of local nonprofits. Copies of the work will be available with 50 percent of proceeds benefiting the Columbus Regional Health Foundation.
