COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Jerry Schultz, 82, of Columbus, passed away Thursday June 1, 2023 at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. He was born September 13, 1940 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Robert F. and Margaret A. (Pearson) Schultz. He married Patricia Schultz on November 21, 1970 and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2022.
Jerry proudly served his country in the U S Navy from 1958 until 1961 aboard the USS Antietam and was a past commander of the VFW in Rockford, IL. He was a member of the Rockford Masonic Lodge #102 F &AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport, Illinois, the Tebala Shrine and he was previously active in the Shrine Clown Unit. Jerry was retired as a property manager for Simon Properties and Thompson Properties. He enjoyed his fishing trips, baking, and spending time with his family.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 10, 2023 at the Seventh Street Church of God with the Rev. Jerry Ballard officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service at the church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Denise (Randy) Thomas, sons, David (Patti) Albright, Douglas Albright, Mark Rockwell and Dennis (Stephanie) Rockwell; brother, Brian (Julia) Schultz; sisters, Carla Fields and Karen Vangiesen; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and a brother, Steve Schultz.
