Back to School bash planned at ice arena

A Back to School Bash will offer an afternoon of free ice skating in Columbus while also collecting school supplies for students in need.

The event will take place Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena, 2501 Lincoln Park Drive, Columbus. The event is free and open to the public.

The Columbus Department of Parks and Recreation will be collecting school supplies at the event that will be donated to the Bartholomew County School Supply Assistance Program.

According to planners, the most-needed school supplies include backpacks, 0.77-ounce Elmer’s Glue Sticks, 10-count Crayola Broad Line Washable Markers, over-the-ear headphones and basic calculators.
