Alongsider Church — Alongsider is a community of house churches coming together to worship as one body on the first and third Sundays monthly at 9:30 a.m. The church meets in the cafeteria at WD Richards Elementary School. Park in the back by the tennis courts and enter through door 24. On the second and fourth Sundays, house churches meet in homes across Columbus for a conversational study of the past sermon and deeper fellowship.

Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. J.A.M. (children’s church) is offered only at the 11 a.m. service. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m. Asbury offers a variety of classes and group studies at various times during the week. Columbus Baptist Church — The church offers worship services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A teen service is offered at 6:30 p.m. Sunday school for all ages meets at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday Bible study, Kids Club and teens meet at 6:30 p.m. There are various small group events weekly.

East Columbus Christian Church — East Columbus Christian Church is open for in-person worship on Sunday mornings with a blended worship service at 10 a.m. The church also has online worship available through Facebook and YouTube.

Sunday morning Bible study is at 9 a.m. Youth meet at the church from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and children’s ministry meets through Zoom on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Sunday morning worship service begins at 9 a.m. The morning blended worship service includes praise music and traditional hymns. Children receive a special message during children’s moment and are dismissed for children’s church during the service. Sunday school begins at 10:10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

A free hot meal will be served the second Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Youth Center Building. All are welcome to come.

Fairlawn Presbyterian Church — The church has in-person and Zoom services at 9:30 a.m. To join on Zoom, email the church office at [email protected] to request a Zoom link.

Women’s Bible study is the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in-person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship is offered at 6:30 p.m. each week. The congregation also livestreams a daily devotion and prayer Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m. on the Facebook page.

Preschool classes continue, with fall enrollment opening soon. The congregation offers an afterschool program with space available for new students each school day from 3 to 5:30 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Lutheran Church — The church offers in-person worship on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. for the classic service and 11:15 a.m. for the casual service. Livestreaming of both services can be accessed on the church’s YouTube page.

In cooperation with Sans Souci, the church has kicked off its 10th Annual “Undies for Everyone” drive to provide new socks and underwear to children in the Columbus community who need them. On Saturday, July 8 and again on July 22 from 10 a.m. to noon, the public is invited to drop off new socks and underwear of any size, any color, any gender at the church in support of this effort. There will be a drive through drop-off area in the church parking lot.

First Presbyterian Church — Tim McNinch will be preaching from 1 Samuel 1:1-20 and 1 Samuel 2:1-10. He is assistant professor of Hebrew Bible at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, a PhD candidate at Emory University, is certified for ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and perhaps most importantly, he is Dale and Izzie Nowlin’s son-in-law. Before pursuing his academic ministry, NcMinch worked in college ministry and as a church planting pastor in Michigan. People in the community in need of a meal are invited to hot meals offered Fridays at 5 p.m. (Please enter through the glass doors on Franklin Street.) The church is LGBTQ-friendly, open and affirming to all.

First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, July 2, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “A Friendly Welcome.” The scripture will be Matthew 10:40-42.

The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Childcare will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service.

For those unable to attend the in-person service or not yet comfortable meeting in person, service livestreams will be available on the church Facebook page and the church YouTube channel (FUMC Columbus). Videos will be available on the church website for later viewing as well.

Flintwood Wesleyan Church — Sunday morning worship begins at 9 a.m. with the amplify (contemporary) service. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. The well (traditional) service begins at 11 a.m. Both worship services are led by Pastor Wesley Jones. The church’s Sunday amplify services are livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Wednesday activities begin with a meal served at 5:30 p.m. in the friendship center. The iKids program begins at 6:15 p.m., and youth meet downstairs in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. Prayer team meets in the prayer room downstairs in the main building at 6:15 p.m., and adult Bible study meets at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Garden City Christian Church — Sunday school classes are available for infants through adults at 9 a.m. Join the church for a worship service Sunday morning at 10.

Wednesday evening youth group runs from 6 to 8 p.m. for grades 6-12. Trail Life Troop IN-0110 meets twice monthly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. during the school year.

Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church — The church invites the community to visit the little 150-year-old country church for a 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. The church preaches out of the King James Bible and sings out of hymn books. The church’s doors are open for visitors as the church family looks to grow.

Newbern United Methodist Church — The church is practicing strict COVID-19 preventative measures. Masks are required. All activities are postponed until further notice except for Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. and online Bible study each Wednesday at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Ed Boston is leading worship and sharing messages that encourage firm foundations of faith in Jesus. Simple church — simply Jesus.

The church has added a time for discipleship growth at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings. There’s always a coffee and donut time downstairs before the morning worship time at 10 a.m.

Petersville United Methodist Church — On July 2, at the 9 a.m. worship service, Pastor Rebecca Milne will bring the message. The sacrament of communion will be shared.

Kathy Bush will serve as worship and song leader; Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. The worship service will be available on Facebook each week.

A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the worship service.

The United Methodist Men’s group will meet at 7:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Sandy Hook United Methodist Church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. The church will offer two services on Sunday, July 2 — the traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and the contemporary service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Beverly Perry will bring a message about “Questioning God” as part of the new sermon series, “Burning Questions!”

Sunday school is offered for all ages between the two services. Nursery is available for children 3 and younger from 8:30 a.m. through the end of the second service.

Sunday, July 9, there will be only one service, an outside combined service at 11 a.m. Immediately following there will be a pitch-in picnic. Bring a dish to share, your lawn chair, and the church will provide the meat and drinks.

On Wednesdays through July 26, the church will offer “Prayer, Praise and Pickleball” in the parking lot of the church. Bring your chairs for prayer and praise, wear sneakers for pickleball. Several courts will be set up for play every Wednesday night. In case of inclement weather, it will be inside the gym.

Family Movie Night is Saturday, July 15, at 8:30 p.m., featuring “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a movie, activities and popcorn.

St. Paul Episcopal Church — St. Paul’s is an inclusive faith community of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis. The church meets in person or by livestream at the church’s website, stpaulscolumbus.org.

St. Paul Lutheran Church — Pastor Doug Bauman will present the message, “Proclaiming Peace,” based on Jeremiah 28 and Matthew 10 Sunday at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services, at which veterans of the congregation will be recognized.

Christian fellowship begins at 9:10 a.m. with Christian education classes for all ages beginning at 9:30 a.m. During the adult Bible class, former Pastor William Stache will share his experiences from pastoral formation, chaplaincy school and 34 years of service at St. Paul. Pastor Daniel Fickenscher will lead the Spanish worship service in the fellowship room at 10:45 a.m., followed by Convivio (Life Together) at noon.

Radio worship service is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., and The Lutheran Hour is every Sunday at 7 p.m., both on WYGS 91.1 FM.

Open enrollment continues for St. Paul Lutheran early childhood ministry 2023-2024 school year. St. Paul offers a comprehensive half-day kindergarten program, a 4-year-old prekindergarten class, a 3-year-old preschool class, extended care, and STEM enrichment sessions.

Vacation Bible school, themed “Keepers of the Kingdom,” for ages 3 through sixth grade, will be held Monday, July 10-Friday July 14, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
