Local man arrested on intimidation with a deadly weapon charges

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local man on preliminary charges involving a dispute involving a firearm after a neighbor reported a disturbance at 6:57 a.m. Friday.

Deputies were sent to the 1300 block of Jonesville Road after the neighbor reported hearing an argument behind a residence there, including a threat to use a firearm, said Sgt. Dane Duke, sheriff department spokesman.

When deputies arrived, they learned that three individuals had been involved in the argument, including Braden Kleinhenz, 35, 15413 S. State road 58, Columbus, along with a 30-year-old female and a 54-year-old male, Duke said.

All the individuals were detained and a firearm was located at the scene, Duke said.

Each of the three had minor injuries, but deputies determined it was Kleinhenz who was the aggressor in the incident, and that he had come to the residence uninvited with a firearm, Duke said.

Witnesses alleged that Kleinhenz pointed the firearm at the other two individuals while making threats to them as well as battering them causing minor injuries, Duke said.

Kleinhenz was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment and jail clearance and then transported to theBartholomew County Jail where he is being held on a 48-hour hold on the following charges:

— Pointing a Firearm (2 counts)

— Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (2 counts)

— Battery with Bodily Injury

— Domestic Battery with Bodily Injury.

Kleinhenz was still being booked into jail Friday afternoon and jail officials did not yet have a book-in photo.
