Schuchart dominates Eldora Million

Logan Schuchart won the Eldora Million for sprint cars on July 13 at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Schuchart earned over $1 million for his efforts running away with the 50-lap race.

Logan Schuchart dominated the 50-lap Eldora Million for sprint cars on July 13 at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The win for the 30-year-old from Hanover, Pennsylvania, was worth a dirt racing record $1,002,023 for he and his car owner, sprint car legend Bobby Allen, who is also Schuchart’s grandfather. Schuchart’s winning margin was 2.706 seconds at the finish.

Carson Macedo earned a career-best $100,000 in winnings for finishing second, with Brad Sweet, David Gravel and Rico Abreu completing the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 were Brian Brown, Buddy Kofoid, Donny Schatz, Justin Peck and James McFadden.

Tonight, Eldora will host the 40th Annual Kings Royal for the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars, paying $175.000 to win.

Roccia wins at Scottsburg 

Curtis Roccia of Columbus won the hornet feature race on July 5 at I-65 Speedway in Scottsburg. Davey Waggoner was second, followed by Gregg Garriott, Joshua Lainhart and Peyton Smith. Logan Mounce of Mitchell was victorious in the modified feature over Ben Harmon, Jeff Deckard, Jeremy Owens and Zachary Stalker. Chris Workman of Clarksville won the crown vic feature race over A.J. Seay, Michael Cranmer, Jacob Robertson and Brandon Cranmer. Brent McMillan of North Vernon won the pure stock feature over Keaton Streeval, Conner Mertens, Mickey Hines and Josh Turner.

Wolf wins at Circle City 

Connor Wolf won the All-Star Circuit of Champions TQ Midget race on July 7 at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis. Joey Paxson was second, followed by Conner Bolding, Evan Shatto and Ashlea Albertson. In other action, Derek Losh won the modified feature over Brayden Watson, Jeff Deckard, Will Bennett and Dyaln Woodling. Jimmy Arthur won the mod-lites feature over Brenden McGlothlin, Andy Trageser, Tad Canada and Chris Hutton. Alex Wilson won the hornet division feature over Brian Pollitt, Curtis Roccia, Ayden Tumbleson and Jeremy Wilson.

The pure stock feature was taken by Sheldon Oberle over Keaton Streeval, Josh Turner, Ryan Colie and Landon Metcalf. Tres Mehler won the steel-block sprint feature over Matt Humphrey, Michael Clark, Billy Winsemann and Thomas Davies. Blake Daniels won the crown vic feature over Derek Smith, Chris Hawn, Anthony Finley and Doug Cooper and Ethan Barrow won the IMCA RaceSaver sprint car feature over Nathan Franklin, Dillan Baldwin, Ivan Glotzbach and Keith Langley.

This week in racing history 

From 70 years ago in 1953 at Taylorsville Speedway, Al Perry won the feature race over Ted Pfeiffer, Larry Short, Johnny Abel and Loren Hurley.

In 1963 at the 25th Street Fairgrounds Speedway in Columbus, racing returned for the first time in 10 years before 4,000 race fans as Bob Tattersall won the 110 Offy midget feature race. Tommy Copp was second, followed by Bobby Grim, Ronnie Duman and Mel Kenyon.

From 60 years ago in 1963 at Bloomington, Cecil Beavers won the super modified feature over Larry Miller, Calvin Gilstrap, Bill Dugger and Jim Luebbert

Also in 1963 at the Mitchell Speedrome, Roy Robbins won the super modified feature over Dick Gaines and Larry Miller. Mac Vails won the claiming car feature over Mack Pace, Dick Keithley, Paul Crockett and Frank Ruane.

From 50 years ago this weekend at Brownstown, Jim Curry won the late model feature over Woody Smith, Kenny Simpson, Ira Bastin and Ezra Bastin.

In 1973 at Lawrenceburg, Butch Wilkerson won the sprint car feature over Larry Miller, Jack Zeigler, Tony Solomito and Mike Blake.

Also in 1973 at Paragon, Larry Curtis won the 100-lap sprint car feature over Gene Henson, Allen Barr, Ron Fisher and Mike Waltz. Clyde Harris won the stock car feature.

From 1973 at Whitewater Valley Speedway in Liberty, Ron Edwards won the late model feature over Vern LeFevers, Bruce Merz and Chick Hale. Alan Scott won the super six feature race over Gary Herbert, Gary Fultz and Howard Baldwin.

From 40 years ago in 1983 at Brownstown, Carl Collins won the limited late model feature over Tim Engelau, Steve Trabue, Dan Londeree and Leon Kinser. Mike Jewell won the street stock feature over Danny Blackwell, Kenny Hensley, Rodney Gaines and Mike Bechelli.

Also in 1983 at Twin Cities, Merrill Wilson won the limited late model feature over Steve Boley, Dee Kramer, Bob Gullion and John Warner. Larry Gingery won the street stock main event over R.C. Calton, Clyde James, Bob Johnson and Dan Sallee.

From 1983 at I-65 Speedway in Scottsburg, Gerald Dixon won the late model feature over Carl Collins, John Gill, Doug Ault and Steve Boley. Danny Blackwell won the street stock feature over Willie Sallee, Joe Burdette, Ted Pfeiffer Jr. and Clyde James.

In 1983 at Paragon, Rodney Ritter Jr. won the sprint car feature over Jack Zeigler and Roger Rager. Charlie Sentman won the limited late model feature over George Kopetsky and Marvin O’Neal.

From 30 years ago in 1993 at Brownstown, Don O’Neal won the first late model feature over C.J. Rayburn, Marty O’Neal, Steve Landrum and Daryl Herbert. Jim Curry won the second late model main over Kevin Claycomb, Doug Ault, Terry English and Mike Jewell. Scott Patman won the street stock feature over Darin George, Tim Clark, Randy Petro and Darren Davis. Mark Barber won the open wheel modified feature race over Tom Curtsinger, Terrence Johnson, Tony Godsey and Eddie Bast.
