Several Donner Swim Club athletes competed last weekend in the in the Indiana Senior State Championships and the Seymour Shields Summer Splash.
At the Senior State meet, Ellie Proffitt had three season-best times and achieved a lifetime-best in the 100-meter butterfly, finishing in 1 minute, 7.79 seconds. Diego Cortero Tapia achieved lifetime bests in both the 200 butterfly (dropping 10.85 seconds) and 100 butterfly, qualifying him for the Speedo Sectional meet, ISCA Senior Cup and the Mexico Junior National meet.
Cortero Tapia, Jude Abdallah, Isaac Proffitt and Aarush Mahato all set Senior State Qualifying times in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. All four swimmers achieved lifetime best times for their splits in the events.
At the Seymour Shields Summer Splash, out of 296 total swims, Donner had 227 best times, 62 new Divisional cuts, two individual Age Group State cuts and one relay Age Group State cut.
Shinjan Bera, Ella Bringman, Cooper Bringman, Caroline Crawford, Lincoln Crawford, Elle Fitzsimmons, Eli McIntier, Kanac Mehta, Mridula Muthukumaran, Anand Neela, Sanchita Ponnathpur, Ritvik Prithiviraj, Abby Proffitt, Brock Smith, Aarav Sriram, Shabarirajan Thangaraj and Cora Tregoning all achieved new Divisional cuts. Cooper Bringman and Muthukumaran both individually qualified for the Age Group State meet, and then Cooper Bringman, Lincoln Crawford, Bera and Thangaraj qualified in the 200 freestyle relay for the Age Group State meet.
The Age Group State meet is taking place this weekend at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium. The Divisionals are next weekend at Center Grove High School.
Tryouts For Donner’s fall/winter seasons are Aug. 16 and 23.
