Jennings County roadwork begins

JENNINGS COUNTY — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O’Mara Contractor Inc. plans to begin work this week on a $5.7 million intersection improvement and structure replacement project in Jennings County.

State Road 7 will be reduced to one lane at County Road 900N in northern Jennings County as crews add auxiliary lanes and strengthen the shoulder of the roadway. Construction will occur in two phases and traffic on State Road 7 will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

County Road 900N will close for up to 100 days, through late October. The official detour follows County Road 950 to County Road 940. Utility relocation work has taken place up to this point.

The contract was awarded in November and also includes added turn lanes on State Road 7 at Country Squire Blvd. (County Road 275W), as well as a small structure replacement. Work is expected to begin next spring at this location. Utility work is in progress.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and consider worker safety when traveling in and near construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
