Contractor to have lane closures at I-65 bridge

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Beginning Thursday, Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Co. plans to begin the removal of temporary structures underneath the I-65 bridge at State Road 46 in Columbus. Lane closures will occur while work is in progress.

Motorists can expect left lane closures on State Road 46 and ramps at the I-65 interchange between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday and the following Monday. Once the structures have been removed, traffic will return to its normal configuration. Overnight restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday to replace pavement markings.

Starting Thursday evening, overnight lane restrictions will begin on I-65 for pavement marking installation. Lane restrictions are expected nightly between mile marker 67 and mile marker 69, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
