COLUMBUS
Derek Andrew Pastrick, 55, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 20, 2023 at his parent’s home.
Derek was born April 19, 1968 in Columbus, Indiana, the son of George and Regina Sue Murphy Pastrick, Jr.
Derek attended Ball State University and worked as a machine repair technician for Cummins Engine Company. He enjoyed camping, tubing, flying kites and gardening, especially growing bonsai trees. He also liked fireworks and any type of fire. Attending concerts, especially Iron Maiden and listening to heavy metal music was one of his favorite things to do. Derek was also a member of Garden City Christian Church. On any day of the week, he could be seen with his bandana on, comb in pocket and a cheerful smile to greet the day. He will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Donovan Pastrick, Dustin Pastrick, Dakotah Pastrick, Kendra Pastrick, all of Columbus; grandson, Anthony Pastrick; father, George Pastrick, Jr.; mother, Regina Patrick; brother, George Tre Pastrick and companion, Ruthann Simmons, also of Columbus.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Elks Lodge #521, 4664 Ray Boll Boulevard, Columbus, Indiana 47203.
