COLUMBUS
James M. Graves, 74, of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at The Belmont Health &Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Graves was born January 23, 1949, in Indianapolis, the son of James B. and Alice A. Williams Graves.
He married Sandra E. Johns January 28, 1967, she preceded him in death December 9, 2012.
He was a former employee of the Green Barn and a former member of Grace Baptist Church.
He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and astronomy.
Survivors include his children, Tanya (Jacob) Hiday and Kimberly Lopez both of Columbus; grandchildren, Jon (Shantel) Hiday, Megan Hiday, Brian Graves, Caleb Graves, Selena Lopez, Enrique Lopez and Isabella Lopez; great-granddaughter, Makayla Hiday and a half-brother, Jimmy (Joanne) Graves of Omaha, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jon Lucas officiating.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to time of service.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Garland Brook Cemetery.
