CSA New Tech teacher Veronica Buckler is one of 25 finalists for the 2024 Indiana Teacher of the Year.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. officials announced the news on Friday, saying that Buckler has become an “invaluable asset” to both her school and the entire school corporation since she joined BCSC in 2016.

“Her colleagues and former students describe her as ‘incredible’ and ‘an asset to our students,’” BCSC officials said. “Her energy, passion, forward-thinking, and ability to make progress in education have made her a beloved figure at CSA New Tech.”

Buckler, who teaches English and social studies, was the BCSC’s 2022 Teacher of the Year. She is the third recipient to receive the district award since its inception. The 2020 and 2021 recipients, Mindy Summers and Stacy Doub, also made it to the top 25 for state in their respective years.

According to the Indiana Department of Education, “The INTOY award is a lifetime role in education, which has many opportunities to celebrate teaching and uplift the teaching profession. INTOYs are comprised of a network of exceptional teachers whom are now retired educators, administrators, college professors, and teacher leaders that continually provide support to the education community.”

The winner at the state level represents Indiana’s teachers through the Council of Chief State School Officers’ National Teacher of the Year program.
