Armor-clad Columbus Police Department SWAT members were stationed around an apartment on the city’s east side near Smith Elementary School where officers were about to serve a reportedly armed and violent man a Shelby County warrant.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Bartholomew County was one of five agencies nationwide to receive a United Parcel Service Foundation grant of $30,000 to be used for providing more volunteer role models for area youth.

After the threat of a statewide natural gas shortage, Bartholomew County Hospital installed a new 30,000-gallon fuel storage tank to keep enough fuel on had to meet the hospital’s operational needs should a natural gas shortage become a reality.
