Inductees of the inaugural Bull Dog Hall of Fame were Columbus High School graduates Ross Barbour, Shirley A. Lyster, William L. “Bill” Stearman, Ray Eddy, Sandra Bridges Newkirk, Robert N. Stewart, W. Paul “Dutch” Fehring, Thomas E. Spurgeon and Charles H. “Chuck” Taylor.

Pilot Virginia McKee was second among 52 participants in the Indiana Fairladies air race sponsored annually by the Fairladies Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, a national organization of women pilots.
