SEYMOUR
Janet Faye Smith, 81, of Seymour passed from this life on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 6:37 a.m. at her home.
Janet was born on January 28, 1942, in Columbus, the daughter of Jesse I. and Anna Ellen Hubbard Smith Dellinger. She had worked as a Surgical Instrument Technician at Schneck Medical Center for many years and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Columbus. She had previously attended Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, decorating and hummingbirds.
Survivors include her children, Kimberly Schidler of Hillsboro, Indiana, Lana Branum of Columbus, Jeff (Sonja) Johnson of Columbus; companion, Rex Phillips of Seymour; siblings, Denny (Mary) Smith and Bonnie Smith both of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Ray Johnson; a granddaughter, Christina Faye Lawson; and a grandson, Ryan Branum.
Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Daugherty Cemetery with Reverend Roy Hendershot officiating.
In memory of Ms. Smith memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
