COLUMBUS
Susan (“Sue”) Ann Wilhelm, 68, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 with her family by her side. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Sue was born December 21, 1954, the daughter of William T. and Alice E. Stokes. On January 7, 1978, she married David Wilhelm. They had two children, Daniel Wilhelm of Los Angeles and Elizabeth Davis (Andrew) of Indianapolis.
Sue was an Executive Secretary during the formation of the Department of Energy while obtaining a BS in Economics at night at the University of Maryland. She then worked as an Assistant Economist at DOE before deciding to devote her time to raising her children.
Sue was a caring and compassionate role model for her children. She also enjoyed gardening, playing guitar, needlework, and raising her family’s dogs (Nikki and Maggie Mae). She is remembered for her integrity and financial savvy.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place and there are no services planned at this time.
Survivors include her father, husband, children, sisters (Ruth Stokes (Oscar White) and Joanne Aikman (James), all of Maryland), grandchildren (Charlotte Davis and Perry Davis), and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
