Cranmer takes top honors in Crown Vic Division at Brownstown

Mickey Hines of Scipio won the pure stock division feature races on Sept. 30 at Brownstown Speedway and on Sept. 13 at I-65 Speedway in Scottsburg.

On Sept. 30, the Flag 2 Flag Media Crown Vics had their night in the spotlight at Brownstown Speedway. The highlight of the night was the running of the $1000-to-win Crown VicShootout. There were 40 Crown Vics on hand for the event.

Michael Cranmer of Jeffersonville had a good night by winning his heat race, taking home $200 for winning the Dash for Cash and then led flag-to-flag in the $1,000-to-win 25-lap Crown Vic Shootout.

Aaron Seay and Trevor Cranmer pressured the leader throughout the feature, but ended up second and third. Jeff Cranmer and Zachary Stalker rounded out the top five. Aaron Seay was the overall fast qualifier. Phillip Boudreaux secured the Flag 2 Flag Media Crown Vic track championship.

Tyler Cain of Seymour continued his hot streak in P3 Graphix ILMS Pro Late Models. Cain cashed in on his fourth feature win in a row and fifth win out of the past six races. Alan Magner led several laps before Cain took over and got the win. Magner finished second ahead of Steve Peeden, Marty O’Neal and Tyler Neal.

Tucker Chastain of Bedford jumped to the early lead in Pewter Hall Super Stocks and had to fight off Matt Boknecht for most of the feature. Tucker scored his third win of the year over Boknecht, Tanner Chastain, Greg Amick and Isaiah Sasser.

Mickey Hines of Scipio took lead with two to go in All in One Pools Pure Stocks and captured his third win of the year. Keaton Streeval, Brent McMillan, Hunter Perry and Josh Turner trailed at the checkers.

Michael Brewer of North Vernon recorded his fourth win out of the past five Haymaker Customs Hornet features. Brewer has five wins for the year. Jeremy Shemwell, Jeremy Ogle, Matt Miller and Curtis Roccia rounded out the top five.

Paxson takes Circle City special

Joey Paxson of Connersville won the Inaugural Ashlea Albertson Memorial Race on Sept. 30 at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis. The race was sanctioned by the All-Star Circuit of Champions TQ Midgets. Addison True finished second, followed by Robbie Roland, Johnny Goff and Cory Goff.

Jordan Wever of Bloomington won the modified feature over Brayden Watson, Bobby Stremme, Jeff Deckard and Dylan Woodling. Chad Stapleton of Edinburgh won the crate late model feature clinching the track championship in the Michael and Laura Bennett-owned car. Tory Collins was second, followed by Landon Arcaro, Mike Bechelli and Kevin Brooks.

Trammell wins Amati Classic

Cody Trammell of Bloomington won the Amati Classic on Sept. 30 at the Paragon Speedway. Robert Ballou was second followed by Shane Cockrum, Jordan Kinser and Jake Scott. Derek Groomer, also of Bloomington, won the super stock feature over Reece Novak, Steve Hollars, Josh Litton and Douglas McCullough.

Jason Trimmer II of Indianapolis won the bomber feature over jason Trader, Katie Grigsby, Juan Asbury and Kenrick Neal. Chris Hillman Jr. of Mooresville won the hornet feature over Alex Wilson, Abby Stierwalt, Conner Garrison and Bill Hobbs.

Hines wins at Scottsburg

Mickey Hines won the pure stock feature to close out the 2023 racing season on Sept. 23 at I-65 Speedway in Scottsburg. Conner Mertens was second followed by Brent McMillan and Tanner Short. Logan Mounce won the modified feature over Brayden Watson, Ben Harmon, Jeff Deckard and Blake Davis.

Tyler Shelton took the hornet division feature over Curtis Roccia, Shannon Walp, Jeremy Ogle and Jeremy Shemwell. Chris Workman won the crown vic feature over Aaron Seay, Marcus Elliott, Rickey Puckett and David Ross.

This week in racing history

From 70 years ago in 1953 at Columbus Speedway, Tandy Holcomb won the feature race over Gene Minor, Bobby Baker, Crowbar Taylor and Gerald Hoppock. Blanche Rager won the powder puff race.

In 1953 at Taylorsville Speedway, Paul Stogdill won the feature race over Calvin Gilstrap and Paul Mead.

From 50 years ago in 1973 at Eldora Speedway, Floyd Gilbert won the World 100 over Billy Teegarden, Gene Petro, Bruce Gould and Dick DeBolt.

From 30 years ago in 1993 at Brownstown, John Gill won the late model dirt nationals feature over Jack Boggs, Bob Pierce, Kevin Claycomb and Kevin Weaver. Randy Petro won the street stock feature over Darren Davis, Tim Clark, Adam Sasser and Cale Kern. Merrill Downey won the modified feature over Dale Dubois, Ken Dayton, J.D.
