COLUMBUS
Harold N. Scott, 97, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:10 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2023, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
Mr. Scott was born September 8, 1926, in Shelby County, Indiana, the son of Noah and Bernice McClure Scott.
He married Mary Jean Newsom November 29, 1947; she preceded him in death July 30, 2014.
Harold was formerly employed as a plastic mold maker with E &W Mold &Tool.
He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran serving our country from 1944 to 1946.
He enjoyed membership at Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Meeting, Hope Masonic Lodge #150, High Twelve International and Murat Shrine Temple.
He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his daughters, Carol (Michael) Thomas of Columbus, Gayle (Rob) Mercer of Indianapolis and Marcia Nance of Columbus; grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Kevin, Jennifer, Natalie, Kristin, Dustin, Adam and Matthew and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings, Helen Winkler, Loren Scott, Maurice “Bud” Scott, Doris Scott, Margaret Malson and Jack Scott.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Meeting with Pastor Peggy Caldwell officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to time of service at the church.
His cremated remains will be laid to rest next to his late wife at Sandcreek Friends Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sandcreek Friends Meeting or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
