Columbus open houseset for laid-off workers

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development will conduct an open house in Columbus Nov. 16 for workers who have experienced a company layoff and may be eligible for free training and additional lifetime employment benefits even if they are currently working.

The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Xenia Miller Conference Room of The Commons, 300 W. Washington St., Columbus.

Federal funds are available for qualifying workers through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program. Benefits include training and job search assistance.

TAA case managers are available to meet with workers impacted and determine eligibility. If eligible, workers can begin training to earn a post-secondary credential, associate degree or higher, at no cost to the worker.
