Ivy Tech Community College and LIFT Academy will host an open-hanger event from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Columbus Municipal Airport, 4760 Andrews St. The event is open to the public and offers an opportunity for individuals interested in aviation or becoming a pilot to learn how they can begin their flying careers in Columbus.

The Ivy Tech Columbus campus offers a degree in aviation that helps prepares students to become a pilot. The college has partnered with LIFT Academy to provide flight training. After completing the program, graduates can get hired directly into Republic Airways as LIFT Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) and then advance into First Officer roles at the airline.

The open-hanger event will provide information on tuition incentives, airline-readiness, training on state-of-the-art flight simulators, a defined pathway to a career as a commercial airline pilot, and how students can earn their degree and launch their aviation career.
