Allison Kay Walker (58) passed away on November 8, 2023. Allison was born in Salem, Indiana on November 19, 1964, to John Lee and Rebecca Lou Purkhiser. She participated in the operation of her father’s dairy farm by milking cows daily and running farm machinery. After graduating Valedictorian from West Washington High School in 1983, she attended the Purdue University College of Pharmacy where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1988. Allison married Greg Walker on September 30, 1989. Together, Allison and Greg raised and home-educated their four children. A lifelong servant of Christ, Allison worshipped alongside her family with the 25th Street Church of Christ. In addition to instructing her own children, Allison coached many young people in public speaking and served as a local 4-H club leader. She could often be found working at local pharmacies and recently celebrated her retirement at 34 years. Allison enjoyed reading, music, baking, and sewing. Allison treasured time spent traveling with her husband and family, with a special love for visiting historic towns and all beaches. She will be missed as a cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, mentor, and friend.
Allison was proceeded in death by her father, John Lee Purkhiser. Survivors include her husband Greg Walker, children Michaela (Urie) Byler, Andrew (Adalid) Walker, Hannah Walker, Rebecca Walker, her mother, Rebecca Lou Purkhiser, and sister Julie (Mike) Holsapple. She joyfully welcomed her first grandchild, Ezra Walker, in October and looked forward to the birth of her granddaughter in 2024.
Public visitation hours will be held from 3:00pm-7:00pm on Monday November 13th at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home located at 1029 Washington Street in Columbus. A memorial service will be conducted at the same location at 10:00am on Tuesday November 14th. Those wishing to make memorial contributions can do so to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana.
