NORTH VERNON
John W. Ross Sr., 81, of North Vernon, passed from this life at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Ross was born December 23, 1941, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of John F. and Carrie L. Emily Ross.
John was a self-employed car salesman and former owner of J. Ross Suzuki.
He was a member of First Marion Baptist Church in Seymour, Columbus Moose Lodge and Jackson Masonic Lodge #146 where he received the Master Mason 50 year award of gold.
He enjoyed restoring and showing classic cars where he won several awards and riding motorcycles cross country with friends.
Survivors include his sons, John W. Ross Jr. and Greg (Marcy) Ross both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Austin Ross, Hunter Ross, Sydney Talkington and Halle Ross; a great-granddaughter, Ella Ross; sister, Hazel Tracy and his companion, Wanda Kiste of Seymour.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Dixon; and sisters, Helen Percifield and Ruby Couch.
In keeping with Mr. Ross’ wishes, cremation will take place.
