Roger “Bruce” Madden, 84, of Crothersville, IN, passed away peacefully at his home on November 21, 2023. He was born on May 16, 1939, in Harlan County, KY, to the late Medley and Margaret (Burkhart) Madden. Bruce was united in marriage to Anna Lee (Minton) Madden on September 10, 1960, in London, KY, and they shared a beautiful life together until her passing on August 12, 2015. Bruce was a hardworking man who dedicated many years to the construction industry, retiring from Dunlap. His strong work ethic was evident from his early days in a coal mine in Kentucky to his later endeavors in construction. A man of faith, Bruce was a proud member of Tampico Christian Church, where his kindness and generosity were felt by all who knew him. Bruce’s zest for life extended into his hobbies, and he found great joy in fishing, hunting, and tending to his 2-acre garden. He was a social and friendly individual who loved playing cards, cheering for UK Basketball, and making his weekly rounds to check on friends. His warm and outgoing personality made him a beloved member of the community, and he cherished spending time with grandchildren, attending their events with great enthusiasm. Bruce is survived by his two children, Roger (Amber) Madden of Crothersville, IN, and Angela (Josh) Barnes of Crothersville, IN. He leaves behind six adored grandchildren: Kendra (Ben) Lengel of Underwood, IN, Cheyenne (Peyton) Lorimor of Louisville, KY, Wyatt Madden of Crothersville, IN, Lanie Barnes of Crothersville, IN, Annslee Barnes of Crothersville, IN, and Wren Barnes of Crothersville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Medley and Margaret (Burkhart) Madden, and nine siblings: Jewell St. John, Sherry Moses, Wanda Brown, Nancy Madden, Crystal Bennett, Ernest Madden, Bill Madden, Jack Madden, and Orville Madden. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes &Crematory Crothersville, with burial to follow at Cana Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on the day of the service from Noon until 2:00 PM. The family asks everyone to wear blue to commemorate his love of U.K. basketball.
