Community members should expect road closures on Saturday due to the Columbus Festival of Lights Parade and related activities.

“Detours in the downtown district will start at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, and will continue until at least 9 p.m. in some areas,” organizers said. “Please use caution and watch for communications on road closures.”

Detours are as follows:

  • Motorists traveling west on State Road 46/Third Street should turn north onto Franklin Street, turn west onto 11th Street, use the roundabout and exit on Lindsey Street, and turn west onto Third Street.
  • Motorists traveling south on Washington Street should turn west onto 11th Street, use the roundabout and exit on Lindsey Street. They can then turn west onto Third Street or continue south on Lindsey and turn east onto State Road 46/Second Street.
  • Motorists traveling east on Second Street into downtown should turn north onto Franklin Street and turn west onto 11th Street. They can then turn north onto Washington Street or continue on 11th Street to Lindsey.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. Saturday. It will travel south on Brown Street, east on Third Street, north on Washington Street and west on Eighth Street.

According to an FAQ page from parade organizers, attendees can park in any legal street, garage or parking lot spaces that are not blocked off.

“Plan to arrive up to an hour early and to walk a bit,” organizers said.
