Bonnie A. Overfelt

Bonnie A. Overfelt peacefully passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the age of 90. Born October 22, 1933, Bonnie was the daughter of Charles M. and Edna C. (Green) Ackenback. She married her childhood sweetheart,

James L. Overfelt, August 23, 1952, at Ogilville Church of Christ with Rev. Harold Barnett officiating.

A former member of Garden City Church of Christ, she volunteered in the church library. Bonnie loved gardening and growing flowers. She held various jobs throughout her life, most importantly her home daycare where she found joy in caring for children after her own had grown and moved away. Bonnie and her husband loved to travel to spend time with family or in nature.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a great love for her family and brought joy to everyone she met. Known for her smile and strong yet gentle manner, she was well loved by family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Bonita (Chuck) Surges of Indianapolis, Vicki (Dan) Nelson of Shelbyville, Jim (Sharon) Overfelt of Portland, TN, and Steve (Sarah) Overfelt of Salem, SC; her grandchildren: Amy (Rihanek) Fischer, Alison Seaborne, DJ Nelson, Lacy (Matt) Lewis, Michael Nelson, Cassi (Chris) Frazier, Jamie (Jake) Izard, Andrew (Megan) Overfelt, Jason Overfelt, Rylee Overfelt; and 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Charles E. Ackenback, and her two sisters, Dorene Breland and Carole Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Robert Ackenback; and three great-grandchildren.
