FRANKLIN, INDIANA
Reverend Leslie R. Bearden, 84, a resident of Franklin, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:17 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at his home.
Reverend Bearden was born in Jayess, Mississippi, July 1, 1939, the son of the late James Oswald and Vena Louise Tynes Bearden.
Reverend Bearden was a 1957 graduate of Pascagoula High School in Mississippi and he later graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Reverend Bearden was a minister and evangelist across the United States for 53 years. The last church he served was the Fairland Christian Church in Fairland, Indiana, retiring September 24, 2023. In his spare time, Reverend Bearden could be found playing shuffleboard or corn hole and he loved to spend a day fishing.
Reverend Bearden is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bearden; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his brother, Reverend Michael (Beth) Bearden of Nashville, Tennessee.
Reverend Bearden was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Mitchell Bearden.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick
Funeral Home on Washington Street; Reverend Michael D. Bearden will officiate. Family and friends
may gather for a time of visitation from 12 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. A
private committal service will be held at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may
be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
