Tune in Tonight: ‘The Talks’ Kloots Stars in ‘Fit for Christmas’

Can there be too many Christmas movies? The second Hallmark-ish Christmas movie to invade the network schedule in as many nights, the 2023 romance “Fit for Christmas” (9 p.m., CBS, TV-PG) stars Amanda Kloots (“The Talk”) as Audrey, a perky fitness instructor and chamber-of-commerce-cheerleader-type out to promote her town and her gym when she discovers that Griffin (Paul Greene, star of at least eight cable Christmas movies), a brash corporate jerk, has come to town to build a giant ski resort that will engulf and devour much of the town’s charming real estate, including Audrey’s outfit.

As we all know, the first two acts will involve Griffin swaggering all over town, masking his heedless greed with all the boyish charm a middle-aged man can muster. In addition to putting Audrey out of business, he continually hits on her, provoking her to fight back in ways that pass for cute in such fare. By the third act, we should assume she will submit to his wooing like some city besieged by superior forces.

“Fit” would be much more fun if Audrey murdered Griffin in the first act. But then it wouldn’t be a Christmas movie, would it? Better he vanished in the early going and Audrey stood trial for his apparent liquidation, only to have him revealed as an embezzler and extradited from his hiding spot on the Cayman Islands, and Audrey compensated for her troubles with just enough money to save her business, her town and Christmas itself.

I’d watch that!

— Katharine McPhee hosts “The 25th Annual A Home for the Holidays” (8 p.m., CBS, TV-G), featuring inspiring stories of children adopted from foster care, young people given second chances and adoptive parents’ lives given new meaning.

The uplift continues with the 2016 holiday movie “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” (8 p.m., NBC, TV-G) starring Ricky Schroder and Jennifer Nettles in a Tennessee mountain variation on O. Henry’s “The Gift of the Magi.”

— A week after its theatrical release, the sci-fi epic “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire” streams on Netflix. Sofia Boutella stars as Kora, a young woman who crash-lands on a distant moon in a far-off galaxy. There, she assimilates among peaceful farmers. But when these agrarian residents find themselves under the gun of an evil empire, Kora’s special powers come to light, making the mysterious stranger their only hope.

Released to generally poor reviews, “Moon” will return on Netflix with a part two, as well as the director’s extended cut of this edition, sometime in spring of 2024. Directed by Zach Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”).

— Netflix also streams the South Korean period horror series “Gyeongseong Creature.”

TONIGHT’S OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

A perfect little movie that has nothing to do with the holidays.

— The voice of Fred Astaire animates the 1970 holiday special “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” (8 p.m., ABC, TV-G).

— Lea Salonga and David Suchet host “Season of Light: Christmas With the Tabernacle Choir” (9 p.m., PBS, r, check local listings).
