Josh Pendleton, who swims locally for Club Olympia Swim Team, competed as part of Team Indiana in last weekend’s 2024 Mid States All Star Championship at IUPUI’s Indiana University. The Mid States Championship is an annual meet that competes the fastest four 14-and-under from Indiana in each event against the top four from Ohio, Minnesota, Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The 13-year-old Pendleton swam against the best 13- and 14-year-olds from around the Midwest in the 1,650-yard freestyle (mile), 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly finishing seventh, eighth and 11th respectively.

Pendleton achieved personal-best times in all three events, including his first-ever Speedo Sectional cut in the 1,650 freestyle, along with Senior State and Speedo Sectional bonus event cuts in both the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly. Pendleton has four Senior State cuts to add to his 13 Age Group State cuts.

Pendleton contributed 29 points to the Team Indiana total. Team Indiana finished second overall behind first-place Team Ohio.

Pendleton now returns to training with Club Olympia in anticipation of Club Championships Weeks in March. Club Olympia’s non-high school Age Group swimmers will be competing this weekend at the Donner Swim Club Winter Invitational at Columbus North High School.
