COLUMBUS
Mary Jo had an impeccable sense of style and was always put together wherever she went. She had a caring and loving nature, and her kindness touched the lives of those around her. She was known for her prim and proper demeanor, which reflected her attention to detail in both her personal life and her work as an interior designer.
In the late 60’s she was hired as David Jones assistant who was an interior designer and owner of Franklin Square Interiors in Columbus. After many years of training from her mentor, David Jones, she became a very successful creative and artistic designer with many faithful clients. After retiring from Franklin Square, she married her husband, Dean Wiseman. Once married, they started JoDean’s Antiques, after a few years, they moved to a large historic home and started Antiques and Elderly Things. All the while Mary Jo incorporated her creative design in their businesses. Then an opportunity arose, and she started a design business called Designers Three with two of her friends, Carol Brisben and Michele Stark.
Once true retirement came, she and her husband, Dean bought a second home in Florida. Her last job was managing the gift shop in the Biltmore part-time where she continued to share her expertise and help re-design the gift shop.
One of her most enjoyable hobbies was renovating and selling houses with her husband, Dean. Her talent for interior design shone through in every project she undertook. Mary Jo’s dedication to her craft was evident in the beautiful spaces she created. When she and Dean weren’t busy working on a project of their own, they were helping family with various renovations and design. When it was time to take a break from renovating, Dean and Mary Jo would travel to Florida in the winters. They loved spending time there and soaking up the sun. They created many memories in Florida, and it became their second home. Her children and grandchildren would make the trip down to stay with them often. If she wasn’t in Florida or renovating a house, you could always find her spending time with her family. She loved taking her kids and grandkids on numerous adventures. She loved going to lunch at local tea rooms, getting ice cream, and shopping.
