7:10 a.m. Saturday UPDATE

Edinburgh police and fire departments sent a joint update on the Holland Street fire early Saturday morning.

Officials say the fire broke out at around 5:35 p.m. at Group Metal Recycling, 111 N. Holland St. Upon arrival, first responders found the business fully engulfed in fire, the release says.

Multiple agencies were dispatched to the large warehouse fire and collectively, it took about two hours to get the fire under control. The blaze was difficult to fight becuase the business had vehicle parts, oil and propane tanks throughout the building, the release says.

No injuries were reported in the fire, and no one was inside the business at the time of the fire. However, the structure is a total loss, the release says.

Edinburgh Police, Edinburgh Fire and the Indiana State Fire Marshals office are investigating the cause of the fire. Anyone with any information about this fire is asked to contact Police Chief Doyne Little at 812-526-3500 or [email protected].

Edinburgh Fire was assisted by agencies including Franklin, Columbus, German Township, Amity and Nineveh fire departments, Edinburgh Police, Indiana State Fire Marshal and several other agencies.

First responders sent out a thank you to residents who brought food and drinks to the emergency personnel while fighting the fire in cold, rainy and extremely windy conditions. Special thanks were sent to 6-year-old Amari and her mother Kristen Monson. The two took time out to bring the drinks on Amari’s birthday.
