Albert “Al” Lazzell, Jr.

Albert “Al” Lazzell, Jr., aged 90, a longtime resident of Columbus, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at The Belmont Health and Rehabilitation. Al was born November 17, 1933, the son of Albert W. Lazzell, Sr. and Alice Schneider Lazzell, in Columbus, Indiana. On August 1, 1970, he married Marjorie “Marge” Boxman Truex at Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus. Mr. Lazzell worked for Cummins Engine Company for a longtime and retired in 1988. Al could fix almost anything, loved trying and usually succeeded. He enjoyed boating, skiing, bowling and volunteering his time at the Orphan Grain Train. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marge; children, Vicky (Jeff) Geisler, Rick Truex, Bryan Truex; grandchildren, Ken, Jared (Dahlia), Jessica, Jackson; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Carmen, Alice and Finn. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 27th at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be starting at 11:30 AM at the church. Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.
