Looking Back – Feb. 2

2014

Local residents had a taste of the Alps during the 11th annual Carnivale fundraiser at kidscommons. Guests were met with Swedish-inspired decor and could even try some downhill skiing on a Wii game system.

1999

Area children participated in a mail art show sponsored by ArtColumbus and kidscommons, which gave them an opportunity to express ideas about the future. Popularized in the 1960s by artist Ray Johnson, mail art included visual arts, poetry and music.

1974

Though Columbus area groundhogs didn’t see their shadow, the National Weather Service in Indianapolis predicted more snow and winter weather were on the way. One Columbus resident joked that the forecaster hadn’t consulted with a groundhog.
