State Senator joins race to succeed Rep. Greg Pence

A Republican Indiana state senator from Richmond has filed to seek the U.S. House District 6 seat being vacated by Columbus Republican Greg Pence.

Joining the competition to succeed Pence in Congress is Indiana Sen. Jeff Raatz, whose District 27 includes Henry, Union, Wayne and a portion of Franklin County.

Raatz is the second Republican from Wayne County to seek the Republican nomination. Darin Childress of Wayne County filed to run last week, joining State Rep. Mike Speedy of Indianapolis in the GOP primary field.

Cinde Wirth has filed to run for the seat in the Democratic primary.

Candidate filing for the May 7 primary runs through Feb. 9.
