Brian’s Picks: Choice entertainment this week

* Sweet treats for an especially sweet and important cause (see photo here from last year). That’s a summary of the annual Always Ready For Chocolate 2024 fundraiser — all to support The Arc of Bartholomew County in its mission to help local individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as their families. The event is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in downtown Columbus. Past wisdom says to arrive earlier than later, as many items sell out. Besides desserts and more, there will be live music and an art show/silent auction featuring art by individuals with disabilities. Information: thearcbc.org.

* I’ve learned to trust friend Naomi Fleetwood-Pyle (shown here at left) about what’s funny. I’ve been writing about shows she’s either directing or starring in for years, and she knows her way around more than a zinger or two. She swears that the dinner theater comedy “Getting Sara Married” is “laugh out loud funny” and “deliciously funny,” and I believe her. The production will unfold Friday through Sunday, and Feb. 16-18 at Willow Leaves of Hope, 326 Jackson St. in Hope. Such shows have long been popular with area audiences. Information and tickets: willowleavesofhope.com.

* Looking ahead: Amid forecast warmer temperatures, you can laugh at what’s left of winter with the help of veteran comics Greg Hahn and Dave “The King” Wilson at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at Brown County Playhouse, 70 S. Van Buren St. in Nashville. Both have played to Columbus audiences over the years. Informati0n: browncountyplayhouse.org.
