Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board members appointed Cathy Jackson as principal of Rockcreek Elementary on Monday night. Jackson will become principal during the 2024-2025 school year.

“It is with joy, gratitude and humility that I accept this honor of being principal at Rockcreek Elementary School,” Jackson said.

Jackson is a product of BCSC, having attended Smith Elementary, Clifty Creek Elementary, Northside Middle School and Columbus East High School.

“Something that you did not hear in my bio is the fact that Rockcreek has been part of my life since 2001 when my oldest child entered there as a kindergartener, and then I spent 14 years there until my youngest child made it through and completed sixth grade,” Jackson said. “It was during that time that I learned Rockcreek has roots that run deep and their commitment to each other as teachers, students and families is undeniable.”

Jackson began her career as an educator teaching art for the Franklin Community School Corp. before returning to BCSC with stops at Columbus North High School and Northside Middle School. She has been assistant principal at Southside Elementary School since 2014 and was recently recognized as the Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year for District 9 by the Indiana Association of School Principals.

“I remember when both of my children came out of the basketball tryouts from Rockcreek excited to share their news. Well, now I too can say I made the team,” she said.
